Although the time for summer vacations may be drawing to a close, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be celebrating Fall with travel, music, dancing, authentic European food and beer.

Yes…beer in all its glory is celebrated at Oktoberfest every year. The annual Oktoberfest revelry is an internationally acclaimed event in Germany and is considered the world’s largest beer fair. Smaller, less epic variations are held in locales across the world – and are just as fun and worth the trip!

However, if you have the desire to to knock back some authentically-brewed Munich gold out of German biersteins, then you had better head to the nearly 18-day long extravaganza in Munich, the capital of Germany’s Bavaria state.

If you can’t cross the Atlantic for a “cold one” at the Theresienwiese-(where Oktoberfest is held). Never fear. Cities right here in the United States celebrate Oktoberfest, or have their own beer related festivals. Wherever you’re headed, chances are there’s a Marriott Hotel or Resort nearby.

Cardholders of either card are rewarded by receiving between 30,000 to 50,000 bonus points. However these two Marriott Rewards cards differ in a small way too: the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card earns 5 points for every dollar charged at Marriott locations.

While, the Marriott Rewards Credit Card earns cardholders 3 points for every dollar charged at Marriott locations.

Anaheim, California
So, you could stay at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel in California and attend their Oktoberfest festivities. Known as one of the largest Oktoberfest events outside of Germany, this event put on by the Phoenix Club features low cost admission, Bavarian dancers, German bands and of course beer served by Southern California’s best beer wenches.

Frankenmuth, Michigan
Another location is in Frankenmuth, MI. This city boasts being the first Oktoberfest outside of Munich to be sanctioned by the Parliament and the City of Munich. Coral Gables, Florida
If you want a bit warmer climate to enjoy your cold beer then jet down to Miami with the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card. The “Magic City” hosts several events – however the largest takes place in Coral Gables. This area is also home to several Marriotts, so cardholders have their choice of locales and amenities to pick from. That’s good news for those who make their way to Fritz & Franz Bierhaus for the 17th annual Coral Gables Oktoberfest. A short walk or quick cab ride back to their luxurious travel abode will probably require less time than it takes to down a pitcher of Germany’s finest.

New York, New York
If you want to take a bite out of the Big Apple in between nibbles of pork wursts and sausage, then New York City is where you should pack your lederhosen and head to. Oktoberfest NYC has it all! New York is the site of numerous Oktoberfest events and even has a parade, the annual German-American Steuben Parade which celebrates German culture. From late September to mid-October you can find an assortment of activities scattered around the City. Some of the in-the-know locals and German ex-pats can also lead you to cheap and authentic bierhauses from some of New York’s best German cuisine, as well as German beer specials. Just as there are an assortment of Oktoberfest NYC events, there are just as many Marriott locations, so even if you choose to sleep in the city that never sleeps you’ll have a place to rest your head!

Chicago, Illinois
If you’d rather be in the Windy City, then know that Chicago offers several large events which span a month long time frame of celebrations at the Chicago Brauhaus. Furthermore, the city’s Oktoberfest is hosted by St. Alphonsus Church. The church was founded by German immigrants in 1882 and is easily reachable by the city’s public transit system. There are 10 Marriott locations across the city. The signature German festival, rooted in tradition, is held outdoors in a beer garden under a big tent similar to Munich’s lauded Oktoberfest celebrations – and has things to do for all ages. The Windy City is the perfect place to stay firmly grounded in tradition — held in place by a beer mug.

Another bit of good news: if you use the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card to get there, you will receive double points for airfare purchases, automobile rentals or dining while on your stay.

It doesn’t matter which card you use or which destination you go to just remember that with either Marriott Rewards Card issued by Chase earning rewards is a piece of cake…because every dollar you spend earns at least one point, and additional points are awarded for charges made on airfare and at Marriott resort locations.
